Verify an agent before you pay

Simple checks for jobseekers and families to stay safe from illegal recruiters and job fraud.

Sample content. This is guidance only. Always confirm details on official Government of India portals — IORA does not issue or verify licences itself.

Check an agent

  1. 1Ask the agent for their registration certificate (RC) number in writing.
  2. 2Look the agent up on the official eMigrate portal of the Government of India.
  3. 3Check the name, address and validity date match what the agent told you.
  4. 4Never pay without an official receipt and a written job offer.
Search on official eMigrate portal

Warning signs of fraud

  • Keeps your passport or asks you to hand it over
  • Cannot show a registration certificate number
  • Promises a job with no written contract or offer letter
  • Asks you to travel through another country 'to save time'
